Jurrell Casey, Derrick Morgan eager to beat Andrew Luck for first time

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Andrew Luck is coming off the worst game of his career.

In the Dallas Cowboys steamrolling of the Indianapolis Colts, Luck posted a career-low 41.7 passer rating and an 11.2 QBR.

The Indianapolis quarterback will lead a team trying to re-establish its footing in the regular season finale in Nashville before the Colts commence postseason play.

Luck's numbers in five career games against the Tennessee Titans are not great. He’s thrown six touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 61.3 percent of his passes and averaging 264 yards. He’s been sacked 12 times.

The big context trumps anything bad about the statline: Indianapolis has won all five of those games.

Derrick Morgan has sacked Luck 2.5 times. Jurrell Casey has gotten Luck twice.

But Casey isn’t keeping track of the sacks, he’s keeping track of the losses including a 41-17 contest at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sept. 28.

“My best friend I would say, Andrew Luck,” Casey said. “We get to go against him again, one more performance and I hope to come out of this game with a win. I say it every time, I haven’t gotten this guy yet. Coming into this game we have a chip on our shoulder, not having a great season, it would be good to get a win on this guy.”

The Wall Street Journal recently wrote about how complimentary Luck is of those who hit him in the course of a game.

Morgan said he’s seen it for himself, getting complimented or asked for help up. The Titans outside linebacker said Luck has a habit that helps him create plays when under pressure, and makes him extra tantalizing for a pass-rusher.

“He always does this thing where he kind of keeps the ball free when he’s getting tackled, so he can get it out,” Morgan said, illustrating by holding his arm cocked 90 degrees at the elbow, away from his body. “He just tries to keep that arm free and keep the play alive and a lot of the times he does it.

“You’ve got to do you best when you get there to secure his arms and trap him, because he’s always going to try to get that ball out. It’s risky, it’s sometimes high-risk, high-reward. I’ve seen him make a lot of plays like that where he just flips it to a running back and he scats for 20 yards when the average quarterback would have been sacked.”

Luck’s fumbled four times against the Titans, but he hasn’t lost any of them.
