Where the Titans look to monitor effort

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- When things are going poorly and he wants to measure the effort of his team, Ken Whisenhunt flips his computer to watch a very specific unit.

In response to a question about the Titans showing fight and good effort, Whisenhunt shared where he tends to look to check on such things.

“I’ll tell you one way I always look at it: I look at our PAT/field goal block team,” he said. “Because that’s an area where you really see it. To me that’s an indication of your team. When a situation is tough like it’s been, if those guys are still rushing hard, which our guys are, it means you have the right makeup of guys.”

Effort hasn’t been an issue in Whisenhunt’s eyes. He’s not fearful that people see the 2-6 record and start mailing it in.

“I don’t see it from our players,” he said. “Even on the sideline Sunday when it was not good, there was no finger pointing in the first half or in the second half when the offense turned the ball over. The defense still went out there and played hard. So I don’t see it with this team and I don’t anticipate that’s going to be an issue. Because I’m going to be optimistic and say we aren’t going to be in those situations again.”
