Looking at Buccaneers' free agents

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have 11 potential unrestricted free agents. The good news is none of them are high-priority players.

Let's take a run through Tampa Bay's free agents:

Defensive lineman Da'Quan Bowers: It is pretty much a certainty he'll be allowed to walk away. He had three lackluster seasons as a defensive end and moved to defensive tackle last season. The results weren't any better. Bowers might benefit from a fresh start elsewhere.

Defensive end Adrian Clayborn: There is talent here, but Clayborn's career has been interrupted by injuries. He's not the super-quick pass rusher coach Lovie Smith likes. It's likely Clayborn won't be back.

Offensive lineman Oniel Cousins: The Bucs clearly need an upgrade over Cousins and that shouldn't be hard to find.

Defensive end Larry English: A rotational player who didn't have much of an impact. It's unlikely English will return.

Linebacker Dane Fletcher: He got playing time due to injuries, but his weaknesses were exposed. At best, Fletcher is a special teams player and those are easy to come by at bargain prices.

Linebacker Mason Foster: He's the biggest name on this list. A four-year starter, Foster would seem to be a likely candidate to be re-signed. But that's not the case. Foster isn't great in pass coverage and that made him a liability in the Tampa Two defense. He's likely to leave as a free agent and the Bucs will try to find a better fit in free agency or the draft.

Cornerback Mike Jenkins: He missed almost all of last season with a pectoral injury. Jenkins was a starter before the injury. Johnthan Banks blossomed in his absence so it's not a given that Jenkins will be back. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep him around as depth.

Defensive end Lawrence Sidbury: He was a late-season pickup who had no impact. It's unlikely he'll be back.

Tight end Luke Stocker: He never has been the all-around tight end the Bucs hoped for when they drafted him. But Stocker fills a role as a blocker and he could stick around.

Linebacker Jason Williams: He's a special teams player and re-signing him is not a big priority.

Safety Major Wright: He's a solid backup with deep ties to Smith. He could return.
