Trail Blazers light up scoreboard for a half

How prolific were the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night?

The graphic above tells the story pretty well. They scored more points in the first half than the Miami Heat (or Indiana Pacers, for that matter) scored in their respective games. The Trail Blazers cooled off and finished with 130 points, a modest total given their first-half tally, in their win over the Denver Nuggets.

In fact, there have been 30 instances in the shot-clock era of a team scoring at least 84 first-half points. This was the first time one of those teams finished with that low a point total.

The Trail Blazers' 84 points were the most in the first half of any game this season.

They're the first team to score that many points in a half since the Golden State Warriors scored 84 against the Toronto Raptors on March 25, 2011.

It was the second highest-scoring first half in Trail Blazers history, one point shy of the record set on Feb. 2, 1992, against the Sacramento Kings.

Their 34-point halftime lead was the largest halftime lead in an NBA game this season and the largest by the Trail Blazers since they had a 37-point edge against the Nuggets on Nov. 12, 1991.
