Rodgers is on pace for his lowest completion pct, fewest yards per attempt and lowest Total QBR.The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers met in each of the last two postseasons, and each started this season in the top six of the weekly ESPN.com NFL Power Rankings.

Three weeks into the season both teams are 1-2 and find themselves as Nos. 16 and 17 in the rankings. Neither team has performed at a level to which they are accustomed, but have these teams hit their low point?

Packers: Where's the offense?

Initial Power Rank: 6th

Current Power Rank: 17th

The Packers have finished in the top 10 of the NFL in points scored every year since Aaron Rodgers took over as starting quarterback (2008), and ranked eighth last season even with Rodgers missing seven games.

This season, the Packers rank 25th in scoring, and were held to seven points by the Lions in Week 3. Both the Packers rushing and passing games have struggled.

Eddie Lacy Rushing Last 2 Seasons

Eddie Lacy has rushed for 113 yards over the first three games combined, averaging only 3.1 yards per rush. This is a stark contrast to Lacy’s production in his 2013 rookie season.

In Lacy’s defense, the Packers have had tough competition.

The Seahawks, Lions and Jets are three of the top four teams in yards per rush allowed this season. The Packers take on the Bears this week, who rank 25th in yards per rush allowed.

Maybe more alarming for the Packers are Aaron Rodgers' struggles. Rodgers is on pace for the lowest completion percentage, the fewest yards per attempt and the lowest Total QBR of his career.

After years of drafting pass catchers, only two have been dependable options for him.

Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb have made up 58 of Rodgers' 102 pass attempts this season, or 57 percent. Only once have two receivers accounted for more than 40 percent of Rodgers' targets in a season (Greg Jennings and Donald Driver in 2008).

Rodgers’ other “top” options this season have been tight end Andrew Quarless (10 targets), and wide receivers Davante Adams (9 targets) and Jarrett Boykin (7 targets).

49ers: Own worst enemies?

Initial Power Rank: 4th

Current Power Rank: 16th

The 49ers biggest problems this season seem to be coming from within and it starts with penalties.

The 49ers lead the NFL in penalties called (41), penalties accepted (36) and first downs allowed off penalties (17). Many of these penalties are coming at costly times.

Ten of the penalties have come on third down, and nine of those were on third-and-six or longer. The 49ers had seven such penalties all of last season.

Their defense has extended nine total drives due to those third down penalties, and seven of those drives resulted in points.

49ers Point Differential
This Season

The defense isn't the only unit to blame though. The 49ers have scored an NFL-worst three total points after halftime this season and rank last in second half point differential (-49) despite the best differential (+43) in the first half.

Several factors are at play for the 49ers offensive struggles.

For starters, they rank 18th in designed rush percentage despite leading the NFL in Jim Harbaugh's first three years as head coach. Frank Gore had just one rush after halftime in the 49ers Week 3 loss to the Cardinals.

Less rushing has put the offense on Colin Kaepernick's shoulders and he has not produced after the first quarter.

In the first quarter this season, Kaepernick has four touchdown passes, no interceptions and has not been sacked.

The rest of the game? No touchdowns, three interceptions and six sacks.
