Morning Ram-blings: Brewing battles?

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- While the St. Louis Rams have their share of things to sort out when it comes to formulating a 53-man roster and a depth chart, what they don't have are any obvious battles for starting positions.

In compiling a list of the top 16 position battles in the NFC, the folks at NFL.com even found themselves grasping for something they admit doesn't appear to be all that much of a battle.

The choice for the Rams "battle" was at running back but it was clearly made with little confidence that it would actually turn into some sort of derby for a starting job.

From the article:

"The Rams have been preaching the competition mantra, but returning starter Zac Stacy is the clear favorite after averaging more than 20 carries per start as a rookie. "

Indeed, it's hard to imagine any of the other backs unseating Stacy as the starter and primary ballcarrier barring an injury. Of course, that part isn't so far-fetched considering Stacy's knack for nagging injuries as a rookie. And so far, Stacy has been getting the majority of the work with the first-team offense. We'll see if anything changes as camp goes on but for now, most of the training camp competitions are centered more on sorting out players rather than open jobs amongst the starting 22.
