St. Louis Rams' Black Friday shopping list includes four-leaf clover

A three-hole punch: Or anything that can create openings for rookie running back Todd Gurley to run through. Even a one-hole punch would help Gurley, who burst on the scene rushing for more yards than any back in his first four starts in NFL history. But, as they often do, NFL defenses got hip to the Rams' rushing attack in short order and made stopping Gurley the top priority. In the past three games, Gurley is averaging 3.28 yards per carry on 61 attempts.

An all-expenses paid trip to the grocery store: Save for a few years of good work from Marc Bulger, the Rams have been below average or worse at quarterback nearly every season since they found Kurt Warner, the former grocery store shelves-stocker. Other than Bulger, the Rams have trotted out the likes of Brock Berlin, Austin Davis, Case Keenum, Kellen Clemens, Sam Bradford and more. Now the Rams are once again in the market for a quarterback as they are last in the league in QBR and 31st in passer rating. Making matters worse, they probably won't be in position to take one high in next year's draft. So maybe grocery store lightning can strike twice. Even if it's not a player of Warner's caliber, someone closer to Bulger would do just fine for this year and beyond.

A lifetime supply of four-leaf clover: The Rams appear headed for another lost season with next to no margin for error if they are going to have any hope to make the postseason for the first time since 2004. Frankly, the Rams aren't good enough to win their final six games to put themselves in the mix so they could use just about anything that will bring them good luck. And not just the kind of luck that will help them win twice as many games in a row as they have at any point in Jeff Fisher's tenure. They could also use the kind that will allow the four teams in front of them to fall by the wayside and clear a path to the final wild-card spot.
