Rams get many back for Thursday practice

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- It's become a Wednesday custom for St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher to give some of his key veteran players a day off. In turn, it's become a Thursday tradition for many of those players to get back to work Thursday.

That was the case this Thursday as middle linebacker James Laurinaitis (ankle), end Robert Quinn (not injury related), cornerback E.J. Gaines (knee), receiver Kenny Britt (back) and center Scott Wells (not injury related) all returned to practice on a full-time basis after sitting out Wednesday.

The Rams did have a couple of additions to the report Thursday though as linebacker Alec Ogletree was limited with an illness and guard Davin Joseph was given a veteran's day off of his own.

Meanwhile, all signs continue to point in the direction of end Chris Long returning this week against the Oakland Raiders. Coach Jeff Fisher said Long is making progress and there would be a decision soon on his status for the weekend. It's not official yet but it's expected that Long will be activated in time to play Sunday.

Here's the full injury report from Thursday:

Did not participate: CB Marcus Roberson (ankle), DE Eugene Sims (not injury related), RG Davin Joseph (not injury related)

Limited participation: TE Cory Harkey (thigh), DT Alex Carrington (thigh), LB Alec Ogletree (illness), LB Will Herring (foot)

Full participation: CB Lamarcus Joyner (groin), LB James Laurinaitis (ankle), DE Robert Quinn (not injury related), C Scott Wells (not injury related), CB E.J. Gaines (knee), TE Jared Cook (back), WR Kenny Britt (back)
