Rams missing key players in Wednesday's practice

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The St. Louis Rams got back to work Wednesday afternoon as they begin preparation for Sunday's game at Kansas City. But they did so without a number of key players.

On Monday, Rams coach Jeff Fisher indicated that there were a handful of players who might need to miss some practice time early in the week but that there were no serious issues coming out of the win against the Seattle Seahawks.

The first part of that proved true Wednesday as the Rams practiced without starters such as receiver Kenny Britt (ankle), guard Rodger Saffold (knee), cornerback Janoris Jenkins (knee), safety T.J. McDonald (concussion) and defensive end William Hayes (illness). McDonald must go through the steps to pass the proper concussion tests before returning to the mix.

Saffold and Jenkins missed parts of Sunday's game against Seattle but Jenkins returned to the game and finished it while Saffold departed late. Saffold said after the game that he expected to play this week against the Chiefs.

Here's the full breakdown of Wednesday's injury report:

Did not practice: WR Kenny Britt (ankle), RG Rodger Saffold (knee), CB Janoris Jenkins (knee), S T.J. McDonald (concussion), DE William Hayes (illness), C Tim Barnes (shoulder).

Limited practice: LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar (toe), CB Trumaine Johnson (knee)

Full practice: CB Brandon McGee (foot), Ethan Westbrooks (hand)
