Chris Long dealing with ankle injury

ST. LOUIS -- Aside from what the St. Louis Rams are calling a quad injury to starting quarterback Shaun Hill, they will have another injury to further investigate Monday morning. That's the left ankle of defensive end Chris Long.

Long suffered the ankle injury in the third quarter and was originally listed as questionable to return but he was later downgraded to doubtful and he did not come back into the game. After the game, Long did not want to speculate on the injury but coach Jeff Fisher said Long would need more tests to determine the severity of the injury.

"We’re going to have to get Chris checked out," Fisher said. "He’s got an ankle [injury]."

For what it's worth, Long was moving slowly on the ankle in the locker room.

On a brighter note, it appears offensive lineman Rodger Saffold will be fine. Saffold suffered a neck injury in the fourth quarter and did not return as rookie Greg Robinson took his place. Saffold said he attempted to re-enter the game but was denied.

Saffold and Fisher indicated that Saffold would be OK.

"I’m completely fine," Saffold said. "They are not going to do anything with me. Come Tuesday, I’ll be ready to go."
