VIERA, Fla. -- Matt Harvey will have an 80-pitch limit when he faces the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, in his fifth Grapefruit League start.
Harvey takes a 1.26 ERA and 9 2/3-inning scoreless streak into the start in Jupiter. He threw 60 pitches and blanked the New York Yankees for 5 2/3 innings on Sunday in Port St. Lucie.
Harvey's official return from Tommy John surgery will come in the third game of the regular season, on April 9 at Washington. It will be his first major league game in 593 days.
Harvey has been spot-on with his control this spring training. He has walked one batter in 14 1/3 innings.
