Tennessee and Vandy to play in the Grits Cup?

Don’t get too excited. The annual Tennessee-Vanderbilt game hasn’t officially changed its name to the Grits Cup, at least not yet. But that was one of the better suggestions when the Tennessean asked readers to come up with names and/or trophies for the in-state rivalry.

Other ideas included the I-40 Bowl, the Cumberland Cup, and the Tennessee Waltz. Everything from whiskey to barbeque to grits was suggested.

The newspaper says it’s willing to pay for a trophy or cup for the sides to pass back and forth each year. The Volunteers hold a pretty sizeable advantage, 74-30-5, in the rivalry which dates to 1892.

Here are some more suggestions, and feel free to share your own.
