It was a scary scene Sunday when news broke that Missouri defensive lineman Harold Brantley had been involved in a bad car accident. He was taken to the hospital and remained in serious condition overnight.
On Monday, the school’s athletic department updated the situation. The good news is that none of the injuries were life-threatening. The bad news is that the injuries Brantley did suffer -- a fractured leg, multiple rib fractures and ligament damage in his left knee -- will likely keep him off the football field for quite some time.
"We're pleased to report that the prognosis is very good long-term, and that Harold should be able to make a full physical recovery," the school said in a statement.
Obviously, the Missouri community was impacted by the accident, which also included a member of the women’s basketball team, though she was released from the hospital Sunday after only sustaining minor injuries.
Many of Brantley’s teammates and coaches took to Twitter to express their concerns and offer support for the star defensive lineman.
Thank you to #Mizzou nation for the thoughts, well wishes and prayers for Harold Brantley and Maddie Stock today. #OneMizzou
