Four-star recruit commits to Florida, flips to Syracuse minutes later

It wasn't national signing day, but it sure felt like it on Saturday. That's because of one of the more bizarre recruiting twists in recent memory.

Four-star running back Robert Washington, ranked No. 116 overall in the new ESPN 300, committed to Syracuse over a slew of offers including Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State. And no, that's not even the bizarre part.

The bizarre came as a result of an exclusive video with Bleacher Report that came out mere minutes before he announced his commitment to the Orange. On the video, he said he was committing to Florida. Say what?

"I did the report on Thursday," Washington told Stephen Bailey of Syracuse.com. "I had my mind set for the report, but I changed my mind the next day to Syracuse."

Washington added that neither coaching staff knew of his plans ahead of time, and the Florida coaches were surprised as anyone when they received Washington's initial commitment per GatorBait.net. Communication between the two sides had diminished in recent days, and the North Carolina prospect had not yet visited Florida's campus.

Washington, who had previously committed to Mississippi State as a freshman, still plans to take five official visits, so this one is not over yet.
