Events around Seahawks' season opener

An extravaganza of events will take place this week as part of the season-opening game Thursday night between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field.

Here are two of them, one starting Wednesday and one on game day:

NFL GAMEDAY VILLAGE

NFL Gameday Village will be open to fans in downtown Seattle on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. PT and Thursday, Sept. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. PT in Pioneer Square. It’s free and open to the public.

The dedicated block includes an NFL Youth Zone that features an on-field NFL Play 60 obstacle course and ball pit, new NFL Rush mobile app games from JumpStart, a green screen with NFL Rush Zone characters, NFL Play 60 quarterback simulator and more.

Former Seahawks, including Shaun Alexander, Walter Jones Warren Moon and Mack Strong, will be on site both days to get active with young fans.

2014 NFL KICKOFF PRESENTED BY XBOX CONCERT

Seattle natives and Grammy Award-winning band Soundgarden and Grammy Award-winning singer, song writer and producer Pharrell Williams will perform in the North Lot of CenturyLink Field on Thursday.

The event is free and open to the public. It will take place rain or shine. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. PT. A screening of "America’s Game: 2013 Seattle Seahawks" will kick off the event.

Guests can enter the concert site from 2nd Avenue and South King Street. Access to the public viewing area is first come, first serve. Fans do not need tickets to attend the free concert.

If you plan to go, these items will not be permitted: weapons, alcohol, food, beverages, all glass containers, fireworks, all chairs, tents, barbecue grills, umbrellas, blankets, cameras with a lens over 12 inches, obstructive signs, bags larger than 12"x6"x12" and animals other than service animals.

Seahawks ticket holders are encouraged to arrive early and watch the concert from inside the stadium, including: North Plaza, Touchdown City or on the in-stadium video boards. Stadium gates will open at 2:30 p.m. for fans attending the game.
