Seahawks expect Thomas Rawls, Jimmy Graham to start in Week 1

The Seattle Seahawks open training camp on July 30 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton, Washington. Here's a starting lineup projection:

Offense

Quarterback (Russell Wilson): He led the NFL in passer rating last year and returns his top four receivers. If the Seahawks can protect Wilson, this could be an MVP-type season.

Running back (Thomas Rawls): He's recovering from a fractured ankle and ligament damage, but Rawls had 830 rushing yards as a rookie and led the NFL in averaging 5.65 yards per carry.

Wide receiver (Doug Baldwin): He set career highs across the board last season (78 catches for 1,069 yards and 14 touchdowns) and signed a contract extension in June. Baldwin does most of his damage from the slot.

Wide receiver (Jermaine Kearse): At this time last year, the Seahawks probably thought they were going to lose Kearse in free agency, but he ended up re-signing. Like Baldwin, Kearse set career highs in every major category last year (49 catches, 685 yards, five touchdowns).

Wide receiver (Tyler Lockett): He was very good as a rookie (51 catches, 664 yards, six touchdowns) and should get more opportunities to stretch the field in his second season. Pete Carroll raved about Lockett at the end of minicamp.

Tight end (Jimmy Graham): For now, we'll take Carroll's word that Graham will be ready for Week 1, but he's rehabbing from a tough patellar tendon injury. Before he went down in November, Graham was the Seahawks' most-targeted pass-catcher.

Left tackle (Garry Gilliam): An outstanding athlete, he'll make the switch from right tackle (started 16 games last season) to left tackle and replace Russell Okung.

Left guard (Mark Glowinski): A fourth-round pick in 2015, Glowinski started only one game last season but has elite athletic traits.

Center (Justin Britt): He'll switch positions for the second offseason in a row. Britt has gone from right tackle to left guard to center and will have to hold off Patrick Lewis for the starting job.

Right guard (Germain Ifedi): The first-round pick will start his career inside but projects as a right tackle down the road.

Right tackle (J'Marcus Webb): He's started 44 career games but is on his third team in four seasons.

Defense

Defensive end (Cliff Avril): He has started every game the past two seasons and was outstanding in 2015, notching nine sacks from the left defensive end spot.

Defensive tackle (Jarran Reed): The second-round pick will be counted on to have an instant impact as a rookie at nose tackle.

Defensive tackle (Ahtyba Rubin): The veteran was fantastic against the run last season and re-signed with the Seahawks.

Defensive end (Michael Bennett): He plays end in the Seahawks' base defense and swings inside when they go to their sub packages. Bennett had 10 sacks last season and has become one of the most disruptive defensive lineman in the NFL.

Weak-side linebacker (K.J. Wright): He doesn't get as much attention as some of the other defenders but led the team in tackles last season and played at a Pro Bowl level.

Middle linebacker (Bobby Wagner): He's the quarterback of the defense and a two-time Pro Bowler.

Strong-side linebacker (Mike Morgan): This spot is open for competition, with Morgan, Cassius Marsh and Eric Pinkins competing to start. Frank Clark is expected to come in as a replacement here when the Seahawks go to their sub packages.

Cornerback (Richard Sherman): He shadowed opposing No. 1 wide receivers more than ever before last season and will likely do so again in 2016.

Cornerback (Jeremy Lane): He re-signed with the team in the offseason and has the versatility to play both outside and nickel.

Safety (Earl Thomas): A five-time Pro Bowler, Thomas is only 27 years old.

Safety (Kam Chancellor): He held out through the first two games of last season but looked dialed in throughout the spring, earning high marks from the coaching staff.

Special teams

Kicker (Steven Hauschka): He made 29 of 31 field-goal attempts last season and is entering the final year of his contract.

Punter (Jon Ryan): The veteran signed an extension during the offseason.

Long snapper (Drew Ferris): He'll have to compete with Nolan Frese, who the team signed after minicamp.
