Justin Britt among Seahawks veterans affected by the draft

Every weekday morning, we'll round up local and national Seattle Seahawks-related links.

Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times looks at five veterans who could be impacted by the draft, including offensive lineman Justin Britt:

But since then, coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider have said Ifedi will start his career at right guard and Odhiambo at left guard, where Britt last year started all 16 games. Since then, the team has published a photo from a workout showing Glowinski playing left guard.

That has led to speculation about the Seahawks’ plans for Britt –- if he stays at left guard to battle for the job with Odhiambo and maybe Glowinski, or if they plan to have him again try tackle, where he started in 2014, or maybe even center, a spot he tried briefly in college at Missouri.

Danny O'Neil of 710 ESPN Seattle writes that the draft was the latest step in the Marshawn Lynch succession plan:

Thomas Rawls gave the Seahawks a running start in replacing Marshawn Lynch.

Seattle took the next step during this year’s draft.

Well, actually Seattle took a number of steps by selecting three running backs along with three offensive linemen and a tight end who’s more of a conventional end-line blocker than anyone else on the roster. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and for Seattle, it took more than half a draft to try and make sure the ground game doesn’t falter without Lynch.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com gives the Seahawks a B for their draft haul:

The Seahawks have assembled one of the most talented rosters in football through shrewd draft-day moves and superb player development. The team has traditionally knocked it out of the park in the later rounds, but the Seahawks also scored well on their early-round selections in 2016. Germain Ifedi and Rees Odhiambo will anchor a revamped offensive line with their collective size, strength and athleticism. Position coach Tom Cable should quickly whip them into shape and insert the young duo into the lineup.
