Crabtree, Lloyd need time to heal

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- If this were the regular season, there would be some concern at the receiver position.

But it’s the first day of August. There’s nothing to see here.

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said star receiver Michael Crabtree and backup Brandon Lloyd could miss a week or two due to minor injuries. Harbaugh did not disclose the injuries.

ESPN’s Josina Anderson quoted a source who said it is believed Crabtree is working through a hamstring injury. He left practice early Wednesday and hasn’t practice since. The 49ers are being cautious since he tore his Achilles and missed the first 11 games of last season. Crabtree is completely healed from that injury and has looked great in camp.

Lloyd is trying to make the team after sitting out last season. Lloyd, 33, has a chance to be the No. 4 receiver.

With Crabtree and Lloyd out, young receivers such as Quinton Patton and Bruce Ellington may get a chance for more repetitions.

Harbaugh also said tight end Vernon Davis is nursing a minor issue.

Meanwhile, Harbaugh made it clear the team has plans for running back Marcus Lattimore. He has yet to practice in camp. He last played in 2012 when he suffered a horrific knee injury at South Carolina. The 49ers took Lattimore in the fourth round of the 2013 draft. Harbaugh said he is very much in the team’s plans.

“Marcus is going to be a part of this team, in some form or fashion,” Harbaugh said Friday. “I know what he’s got inside of him and I know what he’s capable of doing on the football field. We all do.”
