SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers made official Tuesday what was reported on Monday with the announced signing of quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson to the practice squad.

The Niners also announced linebacker Kevin Snyder, an undrafted rookie from Rutgers who originally signed with the Detroit Lions in May before being waived off Injured Reserve on Oct. 13, had been signed to the practice squad.

The addition of Bethel-Thompson, though, gives the 49ers three quarterbacks in the building, with Blaine Gabbert and Dylan Thompson on the 53-man roster and Colin Kaepernick on Injured Reserve, as well as a familiar face as the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder signed with the Niners as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State in 2011.

Bethel-Thompson has also been with the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings before returning to the 49ers in 2013. In 2014, he was on the practice squads of the New England Patriots, Vikings and Dolphins, with whom he spent training camp this past summer.

In three preseason games for the 49ers in 2014, Bethel-Thompson was a combined 11-for-18 passing for 113 yards and two interceptions.
