Morning links: Chargers' playoff odds

Good morning.

Bill Barnwell of Grantland calculates the San Diego Chargers' chances at earning an AFC wild-card spot at 13 percent, stating that they have to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in the final game of the season to get in.

Barnwell: "It's tough to imagine the Chargers making it, but stranger things have happened! Remember that San Diego snuck into January when four Week 17 games went the Chargers' way, after they entered the day with just a 15.5 percent chance of making into the postseason."

In this ESPN Insider pieceInsider, Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders calculates San Diego's chances at reaching the postseason at 10 percent.

The Chargers drop three spots to No. 14 in this week's ESPN NFL power rankings.

Sam Farmer of The Los Angeles Times writes with the Chargers announcing that they are staying put in San Diego for the 2015 season, the St. Louis Rams and the Oakland Raiders probably will do the same as well, with no teams relocating to Los Angeles next year.

San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer stated his support for getting a new stadium deal done and keeping the Chargers in San Diego in this audio interview with Scott Kaplan and Billy Ray Smith with The Mighty 1090 AM Radio. Faulconer: "We have to get this done. It's too important to us as a city. And it's not just the city, it's in fact the entire San Diego region. The Chargers are extremely important to San Diego. The Chargers belong in San Diego. We have a facility that is outdated, and that's just the facts. I've been on the job for eight months now, and I've said we have to call the question. We have to get this done. And we have to bring everybody to the table to solve this once and for all. And I'm committed to doing that."
