Dwight Freeney not at Chargers practice

SAN DIEGO -- Dwight Freeney, the team’s leading sack man with two sacks, was not on the field for the San Diego Chargers during the early portion of practice Wednesday.

Freeney was seen getting some work done on his right leg by the team’s training staff during the second half of San Diego’s win over Jacksonville last week. Freeney never left the field for the locker room and continued to play the rest of the game.

Freeney returned this season from a torn tendon that cut short his 2013 season during a Week 4 contest against Dallas last year. Freeney, 34, has taken rest days on Wednesdays in the past, so that certainly could be the case today.

Along with Freeney, Manti Te'o (foot), Ryan Mathews (knee), Jeremiah Attaochu (hamstring), Rich Ohrnberger (back), Reggie Walker (ankle) and Shareece Wright (knee) were not practicing.

Cornerback Jason Verrett (hamstring) and Ladarius Green (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday.
