Morning links: More playing time for Ladarius Green?

Good morning.

In this ESPN Insider pieceInsider, Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus lists San Diego Chargers tight end Ladarius Green as part of a group of players who deserve more playing time this season. Green has played an average of 24 snaps a game.

Green was active last week against Jacksonville but did not play due to a hamstring issue suffered at practice during the week.

Monson: “It’s tough to be critical of the San Diego offense given how well it is playing, but Green seems to have been marginalized so far this season, finding the ball sent his way on just seven occasions. He has caught six of those for 88 yards, but that isn’t nearly the workload somebody of his athletic ability should command. At 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, Green is a matchup nightmare comparable to the league’s best tight ends, and San Diego needs to find a way to manufacture opportunities for him.”

Nate Silver of Fivethirtyeight.com says the Chargers have a 73 percent chance of making the playoffs.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com writes that Philip Rivers is his MVP a quarter of the way through the season.

Joel Corry of the National Football Post lists Brandon Flowers as one of the surprise players in terms of production playing in a contract year.

Ricky Henne of Chargers.com provides a scouting report on the New York Jets.

Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reports the Chargers are still at risk of blackouts. Even with the FCC ruling to repeal its policy on blackouts, the NFL maintains its policy to uphold local TV blackouts if enough tickets are not sold.

Kyle Posey of Bolts from the Blue checks to see if the Chargers accomplished their goals on offense and defense against Jacksonville.
