Chargers sign OLB Hamilton, C Wilkes

The San Diego Chargers completed a busy Tuesday by signing outside linebacker Adrian Hamilton and center Khalil Wilkes to the team’s 90-man roster in anticipation of the opening of training camp later this week.

The two players take roster spots made vacant with the release of center Nick McDonald and outside linebacker Larry English. McDonald, cut on Monday, was claimed off of waivers by the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday.

At 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds, Hamilton played most recently for the Baltimore Ravens in 2012, seeing time in two games and recording a special teams tackle. A product of Prairie View A&M, Hamilton signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2012, but was released during final roster cuts.

Hamilton was added to Baltimore's practice squad in September 2012 and elevated to the team’s active roster during the Ravens’ Super Bowl run. However, Hamilton remained inactive during the postseason.

Hamilton sat out the 2013 season with a wrist injury, and was released by the Ravens last month. Hamilton led the nation with 20.5 sacks as a senior at Prairie View.

Wilkes attended San Diego’s rookie minicamp in May as a tryout player. At 6-1 and 292 pounds, the Stanford product earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors as a senior.
