Antonio Gates among top undrafted players in NFL history

Good Morning.

Gil Brandt of NFL.com examines the top 30 undrafted players in NFL history. Of course, San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates appears on the list at No. 14.

An undrafted rookie in 2003 out of Kent State, Gates was a talented college basketball player who made a successful transition to football. Even though he will be 36 in June, Gates continues to create separation at critical moments of the game, and has a symbiotic relationship on the field with Philip Rivers.

My take: Interesting that quarterback Kurt Warner tops the list and Wes Welker brings up the rear at No. 30. I thought Welker should be higher. Brandt also provides us with his perfect QB. Rivers makes the cut for his leadership ability.

Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa discusses the marketability of defensive players in this Q&A. Bosa was the only defensive player invited to the NFL Players Association rookie premiere in Los Angeles last week.

My take: Along with being a talented player, Bosa also adds to the brand of the team because of his name recognition around the country.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano provides an update from the NFL owners meetings on the Raiders' prospects of moving to Los Vegas.

My take :take While he’s moving quickly with the folks in Vegas on building a new stadium, Raiders owner Mark Davis appears to be taking his time to make sure the project is buttoned up before presenting it to his fellow owners. It appears that moving to Vegas is a viable solution for the Raiders’ stadium issue. The Raiders even made a video promoting the team’s relocation to Vegas.

ESPN NFL Insider John Clayton provides an interesting list of the top 15 free agents still left on the market. There are some good players still out there, including former Chargers pass rusher Dwight Freeney, San Diego native Arian Foster and receiver Anquan Boldin.

My take: Players that could make sense for the Chargers include corner/safety Walter Thurmond, who has not officially announced his retirement, and former San Diego offensive lineman Louis Vasquez.
