Chargers S Eric Weddle, WR Malcom Floyd probable vs. Jaguars

SAN DIEGO – Although he practiced for the first time this week on Friday, San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle said if all goes well this weekend he’s hopeful that he’ll play on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Weddle is nursing a lingering groin injury that forced him to miss two games earlier this year. Weddle said he re-injured the groin in his return to the field last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, finishing with a combined four tackles.

But by taking some time off during the week, Weddle should be healthy enough to play on Sunday. Weddle is listed as probable.

“It gives me some confidence [practicing on Friday],” Weddle said. “There’s things where I’m limited. I can handle the pain, it’s just that some areas it will show. But I’ll be all right. I need to be out there for my teammates and try and get a win.”

Weddle has yet to record an interception this season but faces an inexperienced signal-caller in Jacksonville second-year quarterback Blake Bortles. Weddle recorded an interception against Bortles in San Diego’s 33-14 win over the Jaguars at Qualcomm Stadium last year.

Along with Weddle, receiver Malcom Floyd (shoulder), tight end Ladarius Green (ankle), tight end Antonio Gates (hip), safety Jahleel Addae (concussion) and inside linebacker Manti Te'o (ankle) are listed as probable.

Floyd is returning from a torn labrum suffered against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 9. Floyd did not play against the Chiefs last week, but practiced all week and was a full participant on Friday. Floyd said he’s good to go for Sunday.

Defensive lineman Corey Liuget (foot) and nose tackle Sean Lissemore (concussion) are questionable for Sunday.

Tackle King Dunlap (ankle) is doubtful, and guard D.J. Fluker (concussion) has been ruled out. Dunlap and Fluker did not practice this week.
