Jaguars over the Chargers the popular pick

Good morning.

All 14 of ESPN’s panel of NFL experts picked the Jacksonville Jaguars over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports also likes the Jaguars, 28-20. Nate Davis of USA Today is also on Jacksonville, 27-19.

My take: I like the Chargers to end a six-game losing streak with a 27-24 win against Jacksonville. However, NFL Nation Jaguars beat reporter Mike DiRocco picks Jacksonville, 23-20. Check out our picks here.

More DiRocco: He writes that Rivers has a history of torching Jacksonville’s defense.

My take: Rivers has thrown for more than 300 yards six times this season. He will face Jacksonville’s defense for a third straight season on Sunday. In the previous two matchups, Rivers has averaged 331 passing yards, throwing for a total of four touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s been sacked a total of three times in those two contests.

Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune writes that Jacksonville head coach Gus Bradley could have been head coach of the Chargers.

My take: Bradly had an introductory phone interview with the Chargers while he served as defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks when Seattle was in the postseason, but he never had a second interview. Bradley brings enthusiasm and on-field leadership to the head coaching position, and appears to finally has things headed in the right direction for the Jaguars.

Marty Caswell of The Mighty 1090 AM radio interviews Chargers general manager Tom Telesco in this video. Although he’s disappointed in San Diego’s 2-8 record, Telesco said the Chargers have a good group of core young players to build with, including cornerback Jason Verrett and linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu.

My take: I’m interested to see how San Diego’s young defensive players perform during the final six games, including Manti Te'o, Melvin Ingram, Denzel Perryman, Verrett and Attaochu.
