Wendell Smallwood, four other draft picks sign with Eagles

PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to contracts with five of their eight draft picks, the team announced Wednesday.

The deals are with five of the Eagles’ six third-day draft picks: fifth-round pick Wendell Smallwood, a running back from West Virginia; sixth-round pick Blake Countess, a safety from Auburn, and seventh-round picks Jalen Mills, Alex McCalister and Joe Walker.

Mills is a safety from LSU. McCalister is a defensive end from Florida. Walker is a linebacker from Oregon.

Each contract is for four years.

Offensive lineman Halapoulivaati Vaitai from TCU, another fifth-round pick, has not been signed yet. Neither have first-round pick Carson Wentz and third-round pick Isaac Seumalo.

Only one first-round pick, Atlanta Falcons safety Keanu Neal, has signed a contract so far. Neal was the 17th overall pick in the draft.

The Eagles have a rookie camp scheduled for May 13 to 15.
