On Thursday, Arizona State coach Todd Graham sat at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California, talking about his football team and its goals for the 2015 season.

On Saturday, Graham -- as a father, not coach -- walked his daughter Haylee down the aisle and gave her away to one of his former players, Clint Anderson.

Graham said he was thrilled that Haylee was marrying a man that Graham had coached and has known for years.

But Graham also admits that he didn’t always make that known to Anderson, who was a captain for Graham at Tulsa. He and Haylee began dating in 2010.

“I remember he came to my office when I was at Tulsa,” Graham said. “The entire team pretty much knew that dating my daughter was off-limits and so he came and was real nervous sitting outside. Then he came in and it took him about 15 minutes to ask if he could take her to the movies. I made it as difficult for him as I possibly could.”

But that quickly changed, and last year Anderson flew out to Scottsdale, Arizona, to ask Graham's permission to propose to Haylee. The answers from Graham, his wife, Penni, and Haylee all were yes, so the wedding planning went into motion.

Initially, Graham thought media days would be over last Thursday, so a Friday rehearsal dinner and Saturday wedding seemed like the perfect break before the football season. But when Graham saw that Pac-12 media days would last until Friday afternoon, he had to condense his days of interviews and charter a flight out of Los Angeles, making his Friday very, very full.

He left Warner Bros. Studios by 10:30 a.m. PT, caught a flight shortly after, landed in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m. CT and was at Haylee and Clint’s rehearsal dinner by 5:30 p.m.

“You always want your daughter to find someone who has the values that are important to you,” Graham said. “He’s a great person and was a great leader on our team.”

Lucky for both Graham and Haylee, on Saturday evening football was far from both of their minds, but it was also right down the aisle.
