Stanford, UCLA, USC top Director's Cup standings

Usually this space is reserved for football, and football only. However, we'll make an exception to take a look at the final standings in the Directors' Cup, which effectively ranks the collective success of athletic departments across the country.

For the 21st consecutive year, Stanford finished atop the standings, thanks largely to NCAA titles in women's golf and women's water polo. It was followed nationally by Pac-12 rivals UCLA in second and USC in third. The Pac-12 had six schools finish in the top-25, with the top three joined by No. 13 Oregon, No. 14 Cal and No. 24 Washington.

Only the 14-team SEC had more top-25 teams (7), but the Pac-12 captured the most national titles (9).

Here is where each Pac-12 school finished nationally:

1. Stanford

2. UCLA

3. USC

13. Oregon

14. Cal

24. Washington

29. Arizona State

33. Arizona

42. Colorado

54. Utah

66. Oregon State

161. Washington State
