Leach, WSU cleared of abuse charges

Fully exonerated on charges of mental and physical abuse, Washington State and coach Mike Leach -- and Cougars fans -- can now fully focus on getting better in 2013.

An independent Pac-12 investigation found no evidence of physical or mental abuse of players, charges that became public when former star receiver Marquess Wilson left the team in early November. Wilson would later fully retract his charges, according to the Pac-12 report.

The report, which has almost nothing to do with Leach personally, pretty much determines that the Cougars first-year staff ran tough practices and conditioning drills and sometimes used bad words.

The Pac-12 report, completed by the law firm of Bond, Schoeneck & King, was compiled after 20 interviews with coaches, players, parents of players and athletic department staff members. Its findings duplicate the findings of an internal Washington State investigation.

Our conclusion? Time to move on.
