Does Andre Johnson to Raiders make sense?

Andre Johnson, one of the greatest wide receivers of his generation, is about to become available.

He is either going to be traded or released by the Houston Texans in the coming days. Could Johnson's next team be the Oakland Raiders?

There are reasons to think it's possible. The Raiders were one of the teams that considered trading for Johnson last year and they still need a receiver.

And there is also this: he has a long relationship with Oakland second-year quarterback Derek Carr. Johnson was teammates with Carr's older brother, David, and he became close friends with the Carr family. Johnson used to attend Derek Carr's middle-school football games.

"He was just always so nice to me," Derek Carr said of Johnson last September. "I was always bugging him, telling him I was going to go to Miami [Johnson's alma mater], all of these things. ...I remember him always taking the time to see how my season was going or like I said, he went to some of [my] games, which is pretty cool. Not a lot of kids have a Hall of Fame receiver come to their football games."

It would be a tremendous story if Carr spent the early portion of his career tossing passes to Johnson at the end of his career.

However, despite the cuteness, it may not make a whole lot of football sense. Johnson turns 34 in July and his game is slipping. Oakland needs an impact receiver and is expected to address the need in both free agency and the draft. The only way Johnson may be a fit for the Raiders as if he plays in a limited role. But that's why Johnson is leaving the only NFL city he has known, because he doesn't want a reduced role.

Plus, I'd think Johnson will first look to go to a contender with an established quarterback since he is running out of playing time. What's your thoughts on a Johnson-Raiders pairing. Too cool or too late?
