Raiders' schedule to be unveiled

In case you missed it, the NFL will release the 2014 regular season schedule at 5 p.m. PT today with all the pomp and circumstance befitting a small banana republic.

We already know a few things about the Oakland Raiders’ schedule.

Based on last year’s records, and partly because the rotating system has Oakland facing the NFC West in 2014, the Raiders will have the toughest strength of schedule with their opponents checking in at a combined winning percentage of .578.

Plus, the Raiders’ road opponents had a winning percentage of .602 in 2013.

One game is already set, Oakland playing “host” to the Miami Dolphins, who were 8-8, in London on Sept. 28. As such, it is likely the Raiders will play at either the New England Patriots or New York Jets the week prior, giving them a head start on the trip across the pond, and then enjoy their bye in Week 5.

The Raiders’ other home games will be against their AFC West brethren, all of whom made the playoffs last season in the AFC champion Denver Broncos (13-3), Kansas City Chiefs (11-5) and San Diego Chargers (9-7), the San Francisco 49ers (12-4), Arizona Cardinals (10-6), Buffalo Bills (6-10) and Houston Texans (2-14).

Oakland will play at the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks (13-3), New England (12-4), the New York Jets (8-8), the St. Louis Rams (7-9), the Cleveland Browns and the Broncos, Chiefs and Chargers.
