David Amerson up, Neiko Thorpe down for Raiders

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A look at Oakland Raiders players who were “up” and those who were “down” in Sunday’s 24-21 win over the Tennessee Titans.

UP

David Amerson: Amerson was given the starting cornerback job over DJ Hayden this week and he responded well. He had a big game with six pass breakups and an interception in Oakland territory in the third quarter. Amerson is better than Hayden and he should be playing.

Seth Roberts: He had 112 yards on six catches and two touchdowns, including the game winner. For now, he looks like the No. 3 receiver over Andre Holmes.

Khalil Mack: The second-year pass-rusher had his second straight big game. Mack had two sacks and now has seven on the season. Both sacks came at critical times for Oakland. Those are the type of impact plays the Raiders want from Mack.

DOWN

DJ Hayden: The No. 12 overall pick of the 2013 draft not only lost his starting job, but he didn’t have a defensive snap Sunday. He will probably get some nickel work, but its clear Hayden is getting buried after playing pretty poorly this season. He took a major step Sunday toward being a resident of draft bustville.

Neiko Thorpe: The reserve cornerback gave up a key touchdown on a play he committed pass interference. Then Thorpe was called for pass interference to set up the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Thorpe will now have to hold off Hayden for nickel playing time.

Jeremy Ross: In his first game as a Raider, the returner showed good burst. But he also lost a fumbled kickoff. Ball security is what got him cut from Baltimore. The Raiders will continue to give Ross chances, but if he can’t hold onto the ball, Oakland will be looking for a returner once again.
