J'Marcus Webb, Menelik Watson hanging tough on right side of Raiders' O-line

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- One of the biggest question marks going into training camp for the Oakland Raiders was who would start on the right side of the offensive line.

However, four weeks into camp and the surprise camp starters -- J'Marcus Webb at right guard and Menelik Watson at right tackle -- are holding steady. At this point, it would be a surprise if either Webb or Watson are not in the starting lineup Week 1 against Cincinnati. Webb is holding off Khalif Barnes and Watson is beating our Austin Howard, who is entering the second of a five-year, $30 million deal.

"The right side is doing a terrific job. They have gelled together," Oakland offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said.

Webb, who didn't play last year, has been a tackle. But Musgrave said he is showing daily improvement at guard.

In other Raiders' notes:

Musgrave said the practice time rookie tight end Clive Walford is missing is “significant” for the team and for Walford. A hamstring injury has limited him to two practices since the start of camp. Musgrave say its difficult to say if Walford can be ready to contribute against Cincinnati.

Defensive end Justin Tuck missed practice again. Oakland coach Jack Del Rio said it wasn't serious.

Oakland defensive coordinator Ken Norton said he is happy with Benson Mayowa's versatility. The defensive end has played the Leo position and some strongside linebacker. He will have a role on the defense.
