All parties involved in the future of the Raiders are going their due diligence as key dates approach. NFL vice president Eric Grubman, who is a key league executive when it comes to stadiums and the quest for Los Angeles, met with officials Wednesday to get caught up on Oakland’s stadium push. Grubman is also meeting with officials in San Diego and is expected to meet with St. Louis officials as well. The Raiders, Chargers and Rams are all in position to try to move to Los Angeles as early as 2016 if they don’t get new stadiums in their respective cities. There is an Aug. 11 NFL owners meeting in Chicago. The topic will be to update on the progress on bringing a team to Los Angeles. The Grubman visit to Oakland is connected to that meeting. The city of Oakland, the Raiders and the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority currently are considering proposals from San Diego developer Floyd Kephart. The stadium project also has a plan for major redevelopment with office, retail and housing. A decision on whether to accept Kephart’s proposal is due in three weeks. There have been reports that Kephart’s proposal is lacking. However, Scott McKibben, the executive director of the stadium authority, said no decisions have been made. If the Kephart proposal is rejected, there is a chance for other proposals to emerge. However, the Raiders have given the city of Oakland until end of this year to secure a stadium. If not, it will pursue a new stadium with the San Diego Chargers in Carson, California. That proposal has being gaining steam while the new proposals in Oakland and San Diego have had issues getting off the ground. The Carson proposal is expected to be a big part of the Chicago meeting.
