Notre Dame-Navy to meet in San Diego in 2018

Notre Dame and Navy have yet another destination for their rivalry: San Diego.

The two will meet Oct. 27, 2018, in Qualcomm Stadium, the Midshipmen and the San Diego Bowl Game Association announced Wednesday. The news comes exactly two weeks after it was announced that the rivals' 2016 meeting would take place in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Irish get Navy at home in odd-numbered years as part of these programs' series, which is the longest continuous intersectional rivalry in college football. The most recent Navy "home" games against Notre Dame have been in Landover, Maryland (2014), Dublin (2012) and MetLife Stadium (2010).

San Diego hosts the largest Naval fleet in the world. The site will mark the first game between these two teams that takes place West of the Mississippi.

The Irish now have scheduled dates for eight games in 2018, and that does not include Stanford, which will play in South Bend at some point that season, and USC, which will likely host Notre Dame on Nov. 24.
