Darcy Regier leaves Arizona Coyotes

Arizona Coyotes assistant general manager Darcy Regier has left the team.

Regier, who was the Buffalo Sabres' GM for 17 years, was an assistant to GM Don Maloney for less than two seasons. Those familiar with the team say it simply didn’t work out and it was a mutual parting of the ways. Regier, 59, was also the GM of the Springfield Falcons, the Coyotes' AHL farm club. The team confirmed the news.

The Coyotes, still in the hunt for a playoff spot in the Pacific Division, have two other assistant GMs: Chris O'Hearn and John Chayka. Other experienced NHLers Claude Loiselle and Steve Sullivan are within the hockey operations department, so there are no plans to replace Regier.
