Rumblings: Who was Blues GM Doug Armstrong scouting?

Some people raised their eyebrows when St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong took in a pair of games in Columbus and a game in Pittsburgh this past weekend -- and none of the three games involved his own team.

But keep in mind, Armstrong is the GM of Team Canada for the World Cup of Hockey, so that largely explains his presence.

The same goes for the rest of the Team Canada management staff, so from time to time you’ll see the likes of Bob Murray (Anaheim), Marc Bergevin (Montreal), Ken Holland (Detroit) and Rob Blake (Los Angeles) at NHL games not involving their own team.

Still, it does also allow those men to scout other players for their own NHL team. It’s a nice double opportunity, if you will.

On the Blues front, my sense is that Armstrong will wait until Jaden Schwartz and Patrik Berglund return from injury and so he can get a sense of his full team when it's finally healthy before deciding what his needs are and how to proceed on the trade front.
