After the New England Patriots signed QB Tom Brady to a contract extension, it was believed that they'd use the additional cap space engendered by the deal to re-up with some key impending free agents -- notably, RT Sebastian Vollmer, WR Wes Welker and CB Aqib Talib. Thus far, they reached a one-year deal with Talib and flubbed the whole Welker thing (but got Danny Amendola as a consolation prize; meanwhile, Vollmer has been in limbo.
