NFL Rumor Central: Wes Welker still 'weighing my options'

Will Wes Welker return for a 13th NFL season?

At the moment, not even the 35-year-old receiver knows. Appearing on NFL Network Wednesday, Welker said, "I'm weighing my options and really trying to figure out where to go with life next. There are some days I wake up and I’m like, ‘OK, I’m done.’ And other days I wake up and I’m like, 'Oh, maybe one more year.'"

Considering he didn't latch on with a team in 2015 until November -- when the then-St. Louis Rams signed him -- it's possible Welker's decision could be made for him due to a lack of suitors. The longtime New England Patriots receiver sounds like he's already preparing for that possibility.

"I'm trying not to rush into any decision, but at the same time, know that and prepare myself for not playing," Welker said. He added that his history of head injuries -- he suffered three concussions in a nine-month span while playing for the Denver Broncos -- will "definitely" be a factor in his decision.

Welker had 13 catches for 102 yards in eight games with the Rams in 2015. He ranks 20th all time and sixth among active players with 903 career receptions. In NFL history, only Brandon Marshall (six) has tallied more seasons with 100-plus catches than Welker (five).
