S Will Hill's suspension to be reduced?

During the offseason, the Baltimore Ravens signed safety Will Hill to a one-year, $570,000 contract, even though he was set to serve a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's drug policy for a third time. The most recent failed test was due to marijuana.

Will he benefit from the changes to the drug policy the NFL and NFLPA are expected to put in place?

"There's guarded optimism that Ravens veteran free safety Will Hill could potentially have his six-game suspension for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy reduced, according to sources," wrote Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

"Ravens coach John Harbaugh said he wasn’t sure what will happen with Hill. The Ravens are closely monitoring the situation and hoping that Hill will be reinstated."

If the NFL and NFLPA put the new policy in place this week, it's at least possible that Hill will be in action for the Ravens against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. He may be able to make an immediate impact, too.

"Hill, who played last season for the New York Giants, graded out as the third-best safety in the league by Pro Football Focus and could press Darian Stewart for playing time at free safety," noted ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley.
