MossWatch: Not finished with 49ers yet

NEW ORLEANS -- Randy Moss would like to play another season with the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers like having him around.

ESPN's Adam Schefter cites those basic reasons while suggesting in the video above that the relationship between Moss and the 49ers could continue beyond this season.

2012 Randy Moss Stats Per Game

The 49ers have needed increased snaps from Moss since losing Mario Manningham and Kyle Williams to season-ending injuries. The chart shows how Moss' playing time and production have changed later in the season.

Moss has 33 receptions for 505 yards (15.3 average) and three touchdowns during the regular season and playoffs. He has four drops, according to ESPN game charting.

San Francisco will want to develop 2012 first-round choice A.J. Jenkins next season, but I see no reason why the team would not re-sign Moss to another one-year contract. The relationship has worked out so far.

We've been updating Moss' status with the 49ers since San Francisco signed him in free agency. I'm looking forward to checking in with him from the Super Bowl as the week progresses.
