MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway, the senior member of the Vikings' defense and one of the key leaders, is the team's nominee for the inaugural NFL Sportsmanship Award. Players from each of the league's 32 teams select a nominee for their club, and the winner will be announced at the NFL Honors banquet on Jan. 31 in Arizona.

Greenway was named the Vikings' Community Man of the Year in 2011 for his charity work, and won the Korey Stringer Media Good Guy Award in 2012 for his accessibility and professionalism with reporters. After playing with a broken wrist for much of last season, Greenway worked through a broken hand and broken ribs this year and is enjoying a solid season at age 31. He has played 10 games for the Vikings, is second on the team in tackles, has a sack and a forced fumble.

A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community will select eight finalists from the initial list of 32, and current players will select the winner.
