W2W4: Rangers at Oilers

At a glance: In the second game of a four-game roadtrip, the New York Rangers look to recover from a 4-3 loss to the Calgary Flames against another opponent out of playoff contention. The Blueshirts square off against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place, aiming to get back on a roll before the final stretch of the regular season. Prior to Friday’s loss, the Rangers had rattled off five straight victories, their longest winning streak of the season.

Change in net: With goaltender Henrik Lundqvist having made eight consecutive starts, back-up netminder Cam Talbot will make his first appearance since a 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild on March 13. Talbot, who is likely getting his last start of the year, is 11-6-0 with a 1.76 goals against average and .937 save percentage in what has been an impressive first year with the Rangers.

Shifting spots: In yet another attempt to stoke Martin St. Louis' scoring ways, coach Alain Vigneault has reunited the 38-year-old veteran forward on the same line with his good buddy and 2004 Stanley Cup championship teammate Brad Richards. Since arriving in New York at the trade deadline, the defending Art Ross Trophy winner has registered only three assists in 13 games. He has yet to score his first goal as a Ranger. Meanwhile, Benoit Pouliot will rejoin an old, familiar line with Derick Brassard and Mats Zuccarello. Wanna know which trio will stay intact? That of Brian Boyle, Dominic Moore and Derek Dorsett, one of the team’s most consistent and effective lines in the past two games.

Lineup change: According to reports out of Edmonton, Daniel Carcillo is expected to draw into the lineup in place of JT Miller. Miller, recalled this week in wake of a hand injury to Chris Kreider, is anticipated to be a healthy scratch.

Duck hunters: The Oilers are coming off a 4-3 overtime win against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, a game in which Oilers goaltender Ben Scriven made 48 saves to help down one of the top teams in the West.
