Roessler to join Mets coaching staff

NEW YORK -- Pat Roessler, the lone external candidate for the Mets assistant coaching position, is joining the organization as Kevin Long's deputy.

Roessler has served as farm director for the Yankees. He also managed Charleston in the low-A South Atlantic League in 2006.

Terry Collins' staff also includes holdovers Dan Warthen (pitching), Bob Geren (bench), Tim Teufel (third base), Tom Goodwin (first base) and Ricky Bones (bullpen).
