ATLANTA -- With Dilson Herrera potentially done for the season with a right quadriceps strain, the Mets will add infielder Wilfredo Tovar for the final six games of the season. Tovar, already on the 40-man roster, will join the Mets in D.C. on Tuesday.
He hit .282 with two homers and 29 RBIs in 255 at-bats for Double-A Binghamton this season while logging 47 games at shortstop and 30 games at second base.
This marks the second straight late-September call-up for Tovar. Last year, he already was home in Venezuela when Ruben Tejada suffered a broken right fibula.
Tovar appeared in seven games for the Mets in 2013. He went 3-for-15 with two RBIs and a steal.
