          SEATTLE -- Right-handed reliever Buddy Carlyle has cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas.

          Carlyle was designated for assignment Monday when Jonathon Niese returned from the disabled list.

          The 36-year-old Carlyle is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in five major league appearances this season.
