NEW YORK -- The season is not officially in the books. And a big crowd is expected Sunday, when Mike Piazza is inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame.
Still, it is all but official: The Mets' attendance will drop for the fifth straight season.
With Saturday and Sunday uncounted, the Mets' announced paid attendance this season is 2,064,440.
The average attendance of 26,467 ranks 21st in MLB. (See the full rankings here.)
Here's a year-by-year look at the steady decline since four million-plus flocked to Shea Stadium during the final year of that ballpark, in 2008.
The percentage reflects the change from the previous season. The MLB ranking is based on average attendance for that season.
