Brian Shaw told the Denver Post on Thursday that he wouldn’t be interested in the Knicks’ job. But that won’t stop Phil Jackson from attempting to pry Shaw from the Nuggets.

Sources told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne on Thursday that Jackson “intends to explore” whether the Nuggets are open to releasing Shaw from his 3-year pact in exchange for some sort of compensation.

Shaw told the Denver Post on Thursday that he would decline Jackson’s offer -- if the Zen Master ever made one.

“I'm not interested in doing anything other than what I'm doing right now," Shaw told the newspaper.

Shaw played for Jackson in Los Angeles and worked on his staff after retiring. He bolstered his coaching credentials even further with a strong run as an assistant with Indiana.

Sources told Stein and Shelburne that Jackson is a big fan of Shaw.

If Shaw didn’t take the gig with the Nuggets last summer, sources told Stein and Shelburne that Shaw would have been at the top of the Zen Master’s list for the Knicks’ opening -- conceivably above Kerr.

It’s unclear what it would take to pry Shaw from Denver. The Knicks already are forfeiting their 2014 first-round pick to Denver in the Carmelo Anthony trade. The next pick they can offer is their 2018 first-round pick.

But if what Shaw said on Thursday remains true, it looks like you can cross him off of the Knicks’ list.
