Report: Revis questions front office

The Jets' poor start on offense has fueled questions about whether the front office has surrounded Mark Sanchez with enough weapons. The best player on the team, Darrelle Revis, apparently is wondering the same thing.

"You've got to do what's best for the team," Revis told Newsday on Wednesday, "and I don't know if we've been wise in that department."

That, of course, is a reference to GM Mike Tannenbaum. Asked about Revis' comment Thursday morning in a previously scheduled interview with WFAN radio, Tannenbaum said he hadn't read the remark.

"Anything like that we'd handle privately," Tannenbaum said.

The Jets are getting bashed because they haven't score a touchdown in two preseason games. Tannenbaum said multiple injuries at wide receivers have contributed to the funk.

"Has our offense looked exactly how we had hoped it would and the way we designed it? Not yet," he said. "We have work to do, we know that, but we're confident we're going to get it done."

The Jets are down three receivers -- Santonio Holmes (ribs), Jeremy Kerley (hamstring) and Chaz Schilens (ankle). Holmes and Kerley could return Sunday against the Panthers.

In the offseason, Tannenbaum was uncharacteristcally passive. He signed Schilens to a modest, one-year contract and he used a second-round pick on WR Stephen Hill. The biggest splash was backup QB Tim Tebow, who will be used in the Wildcat.

Tannenbaum failed to address the troublesome right-tackle position, a decision that appears to be backfiring now that incumbent Wayne Hunter has apparently been benched (more on that shortly).
